Overview:

We are seeking a proactive Vice President, Hotel Accounting to oversee our centralized accounting department which will consist of a mix of premium branded select service and extended stay hotels. The ideal candidate will have solid experience working in the Select Service environment and have previous multi-property oversight.

The VP, Hotel Accounting will provide professional consultation and executive support to an expanding accounting team and have oversight for 60-70 hotels. The position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of Crestlines Fairfax-based Centralized Accounting department.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project a vision and preserve a culture that motivates a diverse team of directors, controllers, and staff accountants
  • Responsible for maintaining excellent relations with ownership groups, corporate office, hotel staff, and outside firms/vendors
  • Overall leadership and management of Crestlines Fairfax centralized accounting team to include a review of systems, staffing, policies and procedures, and reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for the teams completion of the monthly closing process to ensure reporting deadlines are met as required by the Fairfax corporate office and management agreements
  • Responsible for the teams completion of all balance sheet reconciliations, including periodic reviews
  • Responsible for the teams timely completion of all reports required by regulatory agencies
  • Responsible for conducting semi-annual office audits to maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance
  • Responsible for ensuring successful internal audit and SOX compliance
  • Responsible for attending ownership meetings as required
  • Must be able to balance accounting knowledge with excellent and proven leadership skills in strategic planning regarding staff, process improvements, and system enhancements
  • Assist SVP Hotel Accounting & Finance in short and long-term strategic planning to assist hotels in achieving budgeted results.
  • Review analysis of accounting activities, costs, operations, and forecast data in relation to property and company goals.
  • Responsible for directly performing duties of team members when required due to vacancies or extended leaves

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and other applicable programs
  • Proven administrative and leadership skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to perform multiple tasks and maintain flexibility with priorities
  • Proficiency in training, coaching, and counseling abilities
  • Proven ability to manage resources effectively
  • Proven and continued ability to effectively delegate responsibility and authority
  • Proven ability to effectively identify and solve problems within specified time constraints
  • Demonstrated proficiency to objectively analyze and prioritize complex challenges
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required along with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and responsibilities.
  • Knowledgeable with current hospitality accounting procedures and GAAP
  • Ability in building strong relationships with other disciplines throughout the company
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Experience with the design or management of a SOC 1 environment
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, owners, and customers

Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required, CPA preferred, but not required
  • 10 years of progressive experience in hotel accounting and finance in both a property and centralized accounting environment
  • Experience leading and managing a team that delivers high performance in the hospitality industry
  • Centralized accounting experience with select service and extended stay properties is a must
