We are seeking a senior leader to lead our global design organization, someone who sits at the intersection of user-centric product vision and excellent people management. This role will sit at the heart of DraftKings’ deep investment in becoming the leading consumer gaming product in the world.
WHAT YOU’LL DO AS A VP, GLOBAL UX & PRODUCT DESIGN:
- Conceptualize and deliver a vision for our future user experience, integrating DraftKings’ products into a single, fluid ecosystem.
- Align executive leadership around a scalable plan that connects both existing and new DK products/apps under a unified approach.
- Champion a customer-obsessed approach to our user experience, driving product/UX leadership to prioritize a user-first mindset across all experiences.
- Serve as the connective tissue that integrates the look and feel of our product suite with key brand and marketing creative, working with marketing leadership to deliver a single visual throughline across our products.
- Establish a customer experience vision for each DraftKings vertical, mirroring each product’s user approach to an authentic understanding of its specific customer.
- Ensure functional teams are constantly aligned to customer focus via best practices, UX research, and appropriate solution validation.
- Manage, mentor, and grow a world-class team of product and UX designers, optimizing org structure and filling key talent gaps where necessary.
- Set a cultural and environmental tone for the product design team to work effectively—including design team collaboration as well as cross-functional partnership.
- Drive our competency framework and career progression to ensure development paths for team members.
- Create goals, management and success structure that enables each designer’s growth at Draftkings.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues that may impair the team’s ability to meet its goals.
- Create a framework to provide inspiration, coaching, educational, and development opportunities to designers.
- Serve as a critical partner for product and technology leadership, representing user experience across broader initiatives to improve and scale our organization.
- Establish a partner and team-oriented design culture, with particular emphasis on direct partnership with product and technology teams.
- Embed within design a strong appreciation for the technology implications of all UX decisions, forming a tight relationship between design and engineering processes.
- Ensure a high-quality Design output, respecting business requirements, brand values, design excellence and deadlines.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and implement relevant design processes to manage the supply of design resources.
- Manage budgets and ensure schedules align to corporate-level commitments.
- Partner closely with engineering, product, marketing, sales and others to find practical solutions to problems.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- At least 10 years experience in leading UX/design organizations at mobile consumer gaming and/or sports companies
- Bachelors or advanced degree in appropriate fields, such as Design or HCI.
- A demonstrated fluency in brand, visual, and user experience design.
- Deep understanding and comfort with sports and/or real-money gaming products is a must.
- Relevant design and UX experience with a strong understanding of design methods, tools and processes & experience in design leadership or management function with a track record of hiring & developing high-performing design teams.
- Able to guide others through ambiguity, coach them to articulate a point of view and identify the path to a high-quality end result.
- Sharp presentation skills, including executive presentations and public speaking at events, etc.
- Objective and leveled facilitation skills, able to make tough decisions with others and effectively align teams to your rationale.
- Willingness for occasional travel to your people that are located across multiple offices.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $225,000 - $300,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits as applicable. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
