Position Summary:
The Vice President and General Counsel serves as the University's Chief Legal Officer and a key member of the President's cabinet. This position reports directly to the President, and provides legal counsel and advice to the President, Board of Trustees, faculty, staff and administrators regarding all legal matters impacting the University, including: state and federal education law, employment law, policies and procedures, contractual obligations, insurance, operations and governance. This position is also responsible for the Office of Compliance, the Office of Equity and Diversity and the Office of Internal Audit.
This is an in-person on campus, non-remote position.

Other Requirements:
Juris Doctor, or its equivalent from an accredited American Bar Association law school. Must be a member in good standing of the New Jersey Bar or permitted to practice law in New Jersey under New Jersey Court Rule 1:27-2.
Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in providing guidance and advice to corporations and/or educational institutions in such areas as contracts, commercial, intellectual property, labor and employment law or the equivalent experience serving in an administrative, quasi legal or legal capacity in a government agency which regulates higher education and/or higher educational institutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience as General Counsel or Associate/Assistant General Counsel in a college or university setting preferred. Union experience highly preferred.
