Located in Seattle’s urban University District, University Heights Center (UHeights) is a vibrant nonprofit community center that promotes lifelong learning, culture, community activism, and the preservation of our 1902 historic building. Founded in 1990 by a group of local activists, UHeights has served as a community-focused hub of activity providing affordable space for local nonprofits and groups focused on education, arts and culture, and human services. We seek a passionate, detail oriented, and organized team member with strong writing and research skills to support the expansion of our direct services to our community’s unhoused population including: mobile showers, hygiene services, a Safe Lot for people living in their vehicles, meal programs, and a Vehicle Resident Outreach program. The VISTA member will work with current outreach teams to help develop systems and practices to best support unhoused community members with stability and a pathway to housing. Member Duties : This flexible, hybrid member position will work closely and be supervised by the Vehicle Resident Programs Manager. General responsibilities include gaining understanding of the work and the systems in place to facilitate it, helping develop and test ways to make the work more efficient and effective in connecting people to resources, and participating in meetings and groups around this work. This role will involve a mix of hands-on outreach, collaboration meetings with other providers, and office work to create and maintain accurate data around the work, in order to be able to effectively tell the story of what is happening with Vehicle Residents in Seattle.
