    Summary:

    To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the student shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include, but not limited to:

    • To share and teach information and experience in all fundamentals.
    • Be knowledgeable in and teach safety precautions when teaching the fundamentals of the

    sport.

    • Communicate your expectations to your coaching staff, your athletes, and their parents.
    • Create an atmosphere that will challenge the athlete with obtainable goals and create positive memories.
    • Develop and maintain positive and effective relationships with athletes, parents, school

    employees and the community.

    • Refer to the Harper Creek Athletic Handbook for further, detailed, head coaching responsibilities.
    • Other duties may be assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    Supervises students/athletes at all practices, competitions, and team functions

    Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.     Education and/or Experience

    High school diploma or GED required. Previous coaching experience in assigned sport is desirable. Has knowledge and background in the sport.

    CPR Certification, Concussion Certification, MHSAA Rules Meeting

    Language Skills

    Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    Other Skills and Abilities:

    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.
