Job Description Summary
Student will be participating in a research project which aims to understand how the neural circuits changes in Alzheimer's disease model mice. She will be involved in multiple steps of experimental procedures. First, she will be performing histology on mouse brain. Second, she will be imaging the circuit activity of the brain using in vivo two-photon microscope. Finally, she will analyze the data using custom-written software.30%: Histology. She will be slicing the brain using microtome or cryostat. Then she will stain the sections using immunohistochemistry, and then mount the sections. She will organize the sections in the 4-degree area.
30%: Data analysis. She will be analyzing the data using our custom written program. She will draw region of interest in our imaging data, and then run the Matlab program. Then she will load the analyzed data and visualize it in a graph.
30%: Imaging. She will be monitoring the mouse brain activity using calcium imaging. She will place the headpost and open the bone, then bring the mouse under two-photon microscope. She will collect the data while applying sensory stimulation.
10%: Lab organization. She will be placing orders via OurDay.
