Summary:

• Greets/directs visitors in a courteous manner; receives/routes telephone calls using name/title; records/delivers messages
• Places calls to physicians, healthcare providers, and other external customers; provides clear, concise information as directed
• Operates intercom and/or radio communication systems; responds promptly to requests, relays messages, prepares/maintains documentation
• Reviews patient charts: documentation; chart is in order; charges are prepared; locates charts from prior admissions, as required
• Transcribes physician's orders; communicates information to initiate the orders
• Assists with patient transfer and/or discharge arrangements; prepares and/or copies the patient's chart
• Transcribes physicians' orders; communicates information to initiate orders
• Maintains department files, logs, manuals, bulletin boards, and office supplies available in the department
• Other duties as assigned.

• High school graduate or equivalency
• Unit Clerk certificate or related experience in the medical field preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to set priorities, organize work, and function efficiently without direct supervision
• Ability to function in a calm, efficient manner during emergency situations

Work is of light demand. Routine lifting requirements up to 25 pounds. Standing, sitting, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling or lifting may be required
