DESCRIPTION:
Monitors remote sites and various treatment facilities, which operate seven days per week and twenty-four hours per day; monitors quality and operation of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.
Posted range is the starting salary. Pay rate offered is based on experience.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Operates the wastewater treatment plant for production that meets or exceeds state and federal regulations. Utilizes the SCADA system and reporting tools to verify and optimize treatment. Connects and disconnects one-ton chlorine gas containers and handles other treatment chemicals as needed. Performs lab analysis and documents results in accordance with policies.
Performs routine and non-routine maintenance on chemical feed equipment, pumps, motors, and valves. Troubleshoots equipment as necessary.
Monitors wastewater quality through laboratory testing and observation of monitoring equipment and the computer system. Documents and reviews test and equipment results according to policy. Adjusts treatment as needed.
Performs control room duties. Monitors various city facilities using the SCADA system. Responds to emergencies. Optimizes system operations through the use of trending and reporting tools.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
High School Diploma or equivalent
At least one (1) year of experience in treatment plant operation or a similar position is required.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Completion of, or ability to complete within one (1) year of employment, Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Technician training provided by Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX).
Possession of, or ability to obtain with one (1) year of employment, Wastewater Class D license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)
Possession of, or ability to obtain within three (3) years of employment, Wastewater Class C license issued by the TCEQ.
Possession of, or ability to obtain prior to employment, a valid Texas driver’s license.
