As The Training Specialist II you will help Associates meet the goals of Premera Blue Cross by giving them the opportunity to achieve optimum productivity through successful technical training. We are looking for someone who is excited about learning and then supporting training for multiple functional areas such as Group Set Up, Product Configuration, Provider Network Operations, and Membership & Billing. The incumbent is responsible for delivering effective training on Premera's operational systems.
Some travel to branch offices may be required.
What you'll do:
- Conduct successful classes (in-person and virtual) on assigned Premera operational systems such as claims processing, customer service, sales and marketing, healthcare services, and membership and billing.
- Use effective presentation and facilitation techniques to support delivery of core program, leadership program, company-wide training initiatives and customized training developed for Premera-wide audiences
- Produce materials such as job aids, flip charts, and curriculum revisions, as needed.
- Work effectively with other department members to deliver classes.
- Develop sound working relationships with Team Leaders and Technical Support Staff.
- Develop clear class outlines, calendars, and objectives.
- Maintain appropriate (personal) proficiency levels on technical platforms.
- Effectively communicate with customers before course (training charter), during course (training weekly statistics), and after course (training scorecard).
- Mentor and provide feedback to other trainers.
- Review and revise existing training curriculum using evaluation data to improve delivery of material and/or sequencing of instruction.
- Work closely with the curriculum developers and other trainers to develop efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of training courses.
- Routinely audit training materials for accuracy and revise, as necessary.
- Plan, develop and manage training measurement systems to ensure that courses are meeting company needs.
- Review, audit and provide feedback on trainee's work on activities such as claims processing, telephone conversations or correspondence.
- Assume Team Leader role within the classroom by monitoring attendance, testing productivity and accuracy levels, addressing individual or team behavioral issues, providing accurate and appropriate feedback to trainees and elevating performance issues to the appropriate management team and managing claims and call inventory.
- Consult & partner with customers to assess customized training needs.
- Partner with curriculum developer to create customized training programs.
- Complete significant special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Identify all areas impacted by a project and establish appropriate communication links.
- Project oversight includes needs assessments, status reports, project evaluation (lessons learned and project issues file), vendor negotiation, training and support materials as needed.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor's degree or four years of work experience in a department or corporate training capacity. (Required)
- Two years of experience public speaking/training experience, including the ability to cross-train others and train all levels of the organization. (Required)
- Two (2) years’ experience as a Premera Training Specialist is a preference.
- Professional Trainer Certifications.
- Experience evaluating the effectiveness of training.
- Healthcare Industry experience.

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.
National Salary Range:
$50,400.00 - $80,500.00
National Plus Salary Range:
$56,900.00 - $91,000.00
- National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
