JOB OBJECTIVE:

The Tourism Promotion/Special Events Coordinator is a full-time hourly position with the Grafton Area Chamber of Commerce and Celebrate Grafton. The coordinator is the primary staff member responsible for marketing Grafton and the outlying region with a goal of achieving overnight stays in lodging establishments as well as encouraging local dining and shopping. This includes promoting area attractions, events, hotels, shops and businesses. The Coordinator works closely with the Chamber staff, Executive Director, community members, volunteers, and visitors. The position requires an organized person who is able to manage multiple concurrent projects independently. The ideal candidate is creative, self-motivated, and willing to go “above and beyond” to when needed.

The Tourism Promotion/Special Events Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of Celebrate Grafton

Events, planning and implementation, including developing strategies to enhance sponsor participation, grow

event profitability, and increase attendance and volunteer engagement at Grafton community events.

The Coordinator uses a combination of marketing strategies, including social media campaigns, design of print materials, and the development of marketing plans to promote events for the Chamber and Grafton community. The coordinator will be expected to positively represent the Chamber and Celebrate Grafton at numerous events and meetings.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess:

· Bachelor's degree in marketing, graphic design, communications, business or a related field or equivalent experience in the field of event planning, tourism, account management or community development required.

· Experience in the field of event planning, tourism, account management or community development

· Experience with desktop or cloud-based design software

· Proficient in Microsoft Office and social media marketing and promotions

· Excellent writing and communication skills

· Strong project management and multi-tasking skills with a great attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.

· Ability to work nights and weekends as required.

· Ability to bend, twist, stoop, kneel, push, pull, lift, and carry objects that weigh up to 50 lbs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
