Job description
Twin City Staffing is seeking a skilled tooling engineer to join our team. As a tooling engineer, you will be responsible for using MasterCAM and CNC machines, as well as a variety of hand tools and manual machining equipment to design, cut, and rig patterns, core boxes, and grind fixtures. You will work closely with the design engineer to coordinate the effective flow of new and existing patterns.
Location: Saint Paul, MN
Wage: $61,500 - $75,000 Annually
Hours: 5:30 am – 3:30 pm, Monday - Thursday

Duties of the tooling engineer:
- Design the most cost-effective and efficient tool build for the required application
- Use MasterCAM to develop tool cut paths
- Load CNC with programs for tooling cuts
- Coordinate the procurement and maintain inventory of all required pattern shop supplies and materials with purchasing
- Perform pattern rigging and repairs
- Work closely with quality, engineering, and production to create and implement tooling improvements
- Maintain a clean and organized work area along with ongoing PM of the machine
- Perform all duties in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 procedures and processes
- Understanding reports and general forming methods
Requirements of the tooling engineer:
- Two-year technical degree in CNC Programming or related discipline preferred
- 2+ years pattern making and/or CNC Programming working experience required
- Knowledge of and experience with spreadsheets and word processing software, including Microsoft Office products
- Working knowledge of MasterCAM or similar programming software
- Knowledge of CNC Machining centers and programming
- Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering degree or equivalent
- MasterCAM experience is needed
