Title: Machine Operator

Job Description:

This position is responsible for operating machinery to ensure the continuous flow of product thru the production process and insuring proper ingredients/supplies are being used on the line.

Responsible for monitoring and adjusting machine settings as needed and notifying supervisor if machines should require maintenance while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Must be able to work in extreme hot and extreme cold conditions, while wearing all required Personal Protective Equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up, operate, and maintain various types of machines, such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, and saws.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure proper setup and operation of machines.
• Adjust machine settings, such as speed, feed, and depth of cut, to ensure quality production.
• Monitor machine operations, including checking gauges and measuring tools, to ensure that machines are working properly and producing quality products.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and lubricating machines, and making minor repairs.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose machine malfunctions, and make adjustments or repairs as needed.
• Maintain accurate production records and complete required paperwork.
• Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following lockout/tagout procedures.
• Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure that production runs smoothly and efficiently.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in machine operation or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a machine operator or in a related field.
• Strong technical skills and knowledge of various types of machines.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
• Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office software.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Technical or vocational training in machine operation or a related field.
• Experience operating CNC machines or other automated equipment.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices.
• Experience with Six Sigma or other quality improvement methodologies.

Working Conditions:

This position requires working in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to loud noises, dust, and other hazards. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided, and safety guidelines and procedures must be followed at all times. The work schedule may include extended hours, shift work, and weekend work, depending on production needs.
