Description

If you answered YES then Western State Hospital (WSH) may be the place for you! With a 168-year history in the Hopkinsville community, WSH is a state acute adult psychiatric facility, accredited by the Joint Commission, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. WSH provides inpatient psychiatric evaluation and treatment for adults from 34 counties of Western Kentucky who have severe mental illness. Every employee is part of our caring and competent team committed to excellent in behavioral healthcare for our patients and we have an opening for a Therapy Program Assistant to join our team.
This job requires mandatory COVID 19 vaccination or an approved exemption in accordance with CMS-3415-IFC from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. This means if appointed to the position, the applicant must have completed the primary vaccination series for COVID-19, which means the administration of a single-dose vaccine or the administration of all required doses of a multi-dose vaccine upon commencement of employment. The vaccine received must be one of the FDA-approved or FDA-authorized vaccines. Proof of vaccination will be required. If a medical or religious exemption is sought, the candidate must submit paperwork to the employer prior to appointment for review and approval.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist in the day to day operations of the Recovery Mall at Western State Hospital
- Maintains documentation, operational process, and flow of the mall
- Maintains the rewards system and assures compliance with policies and procedures
- Develops specialized activities for Recovery Mall
- Assist with transporting patients to and from the Recovery Mall
- Conducts educational sessions and documents progress
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of therapeutic or patient care experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: College will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions
Typically works in a mental health facility. May be exposed to dangers associated with hospital work.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 9 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
