The College of Education, Health, and Human Development is conducting a search for a faculty member at the Assistant Professor rank with expertise in Multicultural Education projected to begin Fall Semester 2023. The faculty member will contribute to the preparation of P-12 teacher candidates and professionals to work effectively and responsibly with diverse individuals, schools, families, and communities. As a tenure-track instructional position located within the Department of Education, this faculty appointment is comprised of 50% teaching, 40% research, and 10% service.We seek individuals who work professionally and effectively with diverse individuals and groups; have extensive experience partnering with schools, families, and communities; possess effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; and contribute positively to the academic success of the students and the mission of Montana State University.

Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in multicultural education.
Provide mentorship and field supervision to students in community-based and public school placements.
Conduct innovative research in a specialized area of interest in multicultural education.
Participate in outreach and service activities to the university and citizens of Montana.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
The successful candidate will have an Ed.D. or Ph.D. in education, or equivalent, with depth of study and research in the foundations of multicultural education, social justice education, cultural studies in education, and/or a closely related critical discipline. ABD candidates will be considered if they will complete degree requirements by August 2023.
Demonstrated potential for successful teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses.
Demonstrated potential for high-quality scholarship (e.g., publications in peer reviewed journals and presentations at national or international conferences) that contributes to the field of multicultural education and/or teacher preparation.
Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
Sustained engagement with culturally sustaining and revitalizing pedagogy, community-embedded partnerships, equity and social justice education, and/or bilingual/multilingual education.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Experience with classroom teaching in K-12 contexts or equivalent.
Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse K-12 students, particularly Indigenous students and/or schools serving predominantly American Indian students.
Experience working with bilingual/multilingual individuals and/or preparing K-12 teachers for working with bilingual/multilingual students.
Experience collaborating with cross-sector education stakeholders (i.e., practitioners, community members, policymakers, researchers, etc.).
Experience serving on graduate student thesis or dissertation committees.

The candidate must be capable of teaching and communicating with colleagues and students via electronic and digital modalities and have knowledge and/or experience in various teaching modalities including face-to-face, online synchronous or asynchronous, and blended learning.
