Job description

The Orange County Health Department has an opening for Temporary Community Infection Prevention Educators. These positions will work remotely with travel to the office for meetings and travel to long-term care facilities to conduct infection control assessments and educational sessions for staff on infection prevention practices. These positions will make site visits to congregate living facilities in the following North Carolina counties and applicants residing in those counties are encouraged to apply:

• Caswell
• Chatham
• Durham
• Guilford
• Orange
• Person
• Randolph
• Rockingham

Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Regional Infection Prevention Support Team Coordinator with some leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures in the performance of duties. Supervision is a not a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required. Mileage costs related to site visits will be reimbursed by Orange County.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Public Health Education, Health Communications or related field and two (2) years of related work experience; OR

An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined above. A higher degree does not substitute for work experience.

Background in nursing, epidemiology, infectious diseases or public health is preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver License issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

All offers of employment are conditional upon successful clearance of a background check and pre-employment drug testing. Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared.
