Description

The Instructional Technologist for Digital Literacy is responsible for supporting faculty and students in the use of common applications used in the classroom including productivity tools and the Learning Management System, as well as common software products used in various classes.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Advise, support, and assist faculty and students to improve overall digital literacy in areas of communication, publication, visualization, and presentation using common productivity tools (Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, Canva, etc.).
  • Advise, support, and assist faculty and students with the use of the Learning Management System (LMS) as well as learning tools integrated in the LMS (ex: assessment, annotation, notetaking, delivery tools, etc.).
  • Advise, support, and assist faculty with the use of the Learning Management System (LMS) for instructional, communication, management, and assessment purposes.
  • Work closely with Digital Learning Center Director to manage learning management systems.
  • Advise, support, and assist faculty on the creation of surveys for course evaluation as well as classroom and scholarly data collection.
  • Advise, support, and assist faculty and students on assessing, creating, and remediating document accessibility.
  • Enable and support the integration of digital literacy into learning assessment and student projects.
  • Provide consultation on how digital literacy tools are used throughout the institution.
  • Design, develop, deliver, and evaluate instructional and training materials related to the LMS, productivity tools, accessibility, and survey data collection.
  • Participate in digital literacy curriculum development, student performance, and technology selection discussions at course, program, and institutional levels.
  • Create and maintain learning objects and modules in support of digital literacy instruction.
  • Articulate, demonstrate, and apply digital literacy best practices in the areas of teaching, learning, and scholarship.

Other Information:

This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible position. This position description is not all-inclusive, as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned. Work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the academic year, with a possible shortened workweek during the scheduled summer hours time period.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic preparation from a regionally accredited college or the equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience supporting desktop and mobile computing systems.
  • Working experience with Apple and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with Canvas, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and similar productivity tools.
  • Familiar with ITIL (or related) service management practices, including incident, problem, configuration, and change management.
  • Self-motivated and proactive; works effectively with limited oversight and direction; attentive to detail; organized; ably manages resources, constituencies, projects of varying size, and multiple and competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn the academic and administrative functions of a higher ed institution, and foster connections among faculty, students and the campus community as a whole.
  • The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and have the skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
