Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the organization that powers Microsoft’s core cloud platforms and services that millions of people use every day. The Datacenter Integration Services (DCIS) team is part of CO+I. The DCIS vision is to ensure Microsoft can deploy and operate cloud infrastructure for any offering, at any time, in any location, at any scale. DCIS is a core team that is integral to the planning, development, deployment, and intelligent operations of innovative technologies and offerings such as immersion cooling, the fastest public cloud supercomputers and for customers running their mission critical workloads or providing unique AI offerings such as Azure OpenAI service. DCIS is looking for a Technical Program Manager II to drive scaling programs and operations for High-Performance Compute based deployments. Successful candidates will have a proven capability for technical program management, organizational skills and experience leading culture and change management. This role requires someone who has a process management and technical development mindset. Collaboration, influencing without authority and adaptability across a wide group of stakeholders from senior leaders to individual contributors and support staff are core competencies essential to success in this role. Working with software engineering groups, you will drive datacenter operations requirements to shape capacity deployment workflow orchestration systems specific for large scale AI Platforms. Responsibilities

  • Drive product direction, identify and define product improvements for data center operation automation
  • Partner with large number of internal customers to identify opportunities within datacenter operations and resolve, escalate, or find the appropriate owner to ensure the best outcome for Microsoft's customers
  • Analyze business metrics to identify process improvement and software automation opportunities
  • Manage the product backlog with responsibility for identifying and documenting requirements, specifications, and use cases
  • Communicate with partners to ensure their needs are reflected within the product backlog in succinct and plain language
  • Work closely with data center operations, business stakeholders and engineering groups, understand business problems and translate them into engineering solutions
  • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure successful delivery of software solutions
  • Drive business value and impact by using and improving upon in-house data solutions.
  • Support product launches and drive product adoption
  • Be an active member of the team that contributes to the success of others

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 2+ years of experience in information technology operations, including server, network device, cabling infrastructure operations in a datacenter production environment.
  • 2+ years of experience in software development lifecycle, including participation in design, specification, and release management.
  • 1+ year(s) experience preparing and presenting documents and presentations summarizing program status and performance for senior leadership audiences.
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
  • Experience using Power BI, R, and other statistical computing and graphics software to analyze and present statistical process performance summaries.
  • Experience in a datacenter or manufacturing operations environment.
  • Experience putting lean practices to use to control and optimize processes, including accountability to track outcomes.
  • Microsoft Office skills including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Ability to incorporate and understand the needs of our diverse customer base, including customers using assistive technology.
  • Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills.
Technical Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
