This is a 5th and 6th grade teaching position
teaching Telescoped Math

DESCRIPTION OF TELESCOPED MATH

MPS math acceleration pathways provide "on and off ramps" for students to take accelerated courses in grades 4 through 12. Accelerated courses include "telescoped" curriculum and a variety of advanced math courses at the secondary level. The term “acceleration” has sometimes been taken to mean that students will skip a year or more in math. This is not the case in the MPS telescoping model. 5th and 6th grade students participating in an MPS telescoped course progress through the content of that course at an accelerated pace completing 3 years of content in 2 years. Telescope math is focused on accelerating students mathematically and providing access to all students across the district. This position helps provide equitable access to telescope math courses at MPS elementary sites who are unable to staff a site based teacher.

SUMMARY

Provide quality math instruction to 5th and 6th grade students from a range of schools aligned to the MN grades 4, 5, and 6 grade math standards and Telescoped Math 5|6 and 5|6 Curriculum guides in an online and blended teaching format.
