Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Job Summary: A Teacher will be responsible for classroom management as well as record keeping, lesson plans and the day to day operation of each assigned classroom. A Teacher will be responsible for maintaining a safe, nurturing learning environment for children placed in his/her care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

(Include and are not limited to the following assignment.)

  • Plan individual age appropriate group activities to stimulate growth in language, cognitive, social/emotional and motor skills.
  • Create a Daily Classroom Schedule
  • Post schedule on parent board for parents.
  • Post schedule on wall large enough to be visible for children.
  • Follow classroom schedule daily
  • Variations can be made due to weather or children.
  • Variations must be minimal
  • Put into practice classroom management plans through age appropriate lesson plans.
  • Lesson plans must be in line with the Early Learning Guidelines
  • Lesson plans must be turned in by the 15thof the month for the following month.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Developmentally Appropriate Practices. Ensure that ALL DHS Licensing requirements are met and exhibit professional demeanor as outlined by NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children).
  • Arrange classroom equipment to support children’s learning activities.
  • Demonstrate an ability to foresee, prevent, and respond in hazardous situations.
  • Ensure classroom has all seven learning centers.
  • Ensures age appropriate toys and learning equipment are in each area according to DHS guidelines.
  • Ensures parent board is current with information.
  • Ensures learning environment is kept clean and child friendly.
  • Ability to calculate and maintain child/staff ratios according to DHS standards.
  • Actively supervise children at all times.
  • Model appropriate care, language and teaching strategies for teachers and assistant teachers.
  • Demonstrate unity and be a positive role model to co-workers, parents, and children.
  • Actively communicate with parents/guardians regarding child’s day.
  • Participates in family style meals.
  • Make hand washing for all a routine practice, oversee and assist in handwashing.
  • Assist children in toileting and/or diaper changes
  • Make sure diaper change logs are complete.
  • Maintain required daily forms.
  • Follow chain of command with issues and/or concerns.
  • Attend center meetings and trainings.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have 6 months to 1-Year related experience in Childcare
  • Applicant must receive CDA (Child Development Associate Credential) Within first year of employment.
  • Have First Aid/CPR certificate, Medication Administration Training (MAT), and ELCCT or receive after employment and must maintain throughout employment.
  • Must Pass OSBI fingerprint background check Before employment.
  • Actively maintain twenty hours of professional development per employment year.
  • Must pass drug test.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Reports to Director
  • Understands and follows all policies and procedures, emergency, and safety protocols.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

UKB and Tribal preference applies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour
