Auditor III (Title Exams Field Auditor) The Auditor performs compliance audits and determines the financial condition of title agents.

This position performs highly complex (senior-level) audits of title insurance agencies to determine compliance with Texas Insurance Code rules and regulations. Work involves the audit, investigation and review of records, reports, financial statements, and management practices to ensure legal compliance with state statutes and internal regulations. May serve as lead auditor on audit team. May provide guidance to others. Works independently at remote locations under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

This position:
  • Reviews guaranty file documentation for compliance.
  • Evaluates escrow accounting system internal controls and procedures.
  • Drafts audit reports.
  • Tests abstract plants for status and completeness.
  • Reviews financial statements to determine the financial condition of agents.
  • Recalculates title premium charges.
  • Conducts special investigations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
This position requires:
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major course in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
  • Additionally, this position requires two years of experience in an accounting or auditing position.

Candidates must submit all transcripts from academic institutions from which relevant course credit was earned.

Must be eligible for the bond-related provisions of Insurance Code Section 401.106 and take the oath required by Insurance Code Section 401.105.


Additional job details:

This is a remote work position. No office will be provided by the department. Candidates must have a secure, dedicated workspace with reliable broadband internet service. The ideal candidate must be available during the agreed upon work schedule for meetings and collaboration via Microsoft Teams and other applications during regular business hours.
