Boot Hill Distillery is a farmer-owned distillery in Dodge City Kansas that produces Bourbon, Vodka, Gin, Red Eye Whiskey, White Whiskey, Prickly Ash Bitters, Moonshine, as well as many other experimental and new brands. We pride ourselves in the fact that we only produce spirits from the grain we grow and in this sense are able to provide an extra level of quality products.
Job Summary:
The Tasting Room at Boot Hill Distillery helps anchor the distillery’s national brand to its home in Western Kansas. It is the stage in which we are best able to showcase our brand. It is also the proving ground for new ideas and methods. As a Tasting Room Associate, you will be responsible for connecting directly with our guests and introducing them to our spirits, our process and our history. We are extremely proud to call Dodge City our home and closely tie the Boot Hill Distillery experience to our city’s heritage. As a Tasting Room Associate, you are tasked with setting the customer’s first impression through excellent customer service, bartending skills, story telling skills and overall knowledge of Dodge City and Boot Hill Distillery.
Requirements and Responsibilities:
- Responsible Alcohol Service
- Strictly adhere to Kansas State Alcohol Beverage Control Laws.
- Model responsible drinking in the community.
- Maintain a current alcohol server certificate, (TIPS, ServSafe, Etc.)
- Maintain Inventory
Dodge City Hospitality:
- Greet and serve guests in a welcoming, genuine manner and continually build relationships with guests.
- Continually educate guests about Dodge City, Boot Hill Distillery, cocktails, ingredients, and overall appreciation of spirits and the alcohol industry.
- Maintain a sensitive and educated pallet for spirits and cocktails.
- Participate in other aspects of the distilling process: Be willing to foster a deeper knowledge of spirit making and all of the processes that lead up to the production of a distilled spirit.
- Maintain a passionate interest in the alcohol industry and continually teach yourself more information on a broad spectrum - or become an expert and share your knowledge.
Bartender Skills*
- Calmly and efficiently operate behind the bar.
- Maintain impeccable quality control.
- Strictly follow the bartender manual and all of the Tasting Room’s specified cocktail recipes.
- Prepare syrups, garnishes, etc. in an efficient manner behind the bar or in the preparation kitchen as needed.
- Watch for loss through inefficient storage, preparation, theft, or failure to ring up purchased items.
- Become proficient in operating bar equipment and tools required for food/cocktail prep and storage.
- Follow proper food safety procedures
Back of House
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Maintain a clean and presentable Tasting Room by continually assessing the cleanliness of windows, mirrors, tables, chairs, floors, restrooms, sidewalks, patios, entryways, stairways, merchandise areas, back bar, etc. Execute such cleaning yourself as needed.
- Notice and report or fix any maintenance issues.
Tour Guide
- Properly caution guests about safety in the distillery and continually watch out for their safety. The guests are your responsibility while in the distillery.
- Learn history of the city, building, ownership, and processes.
- Educate guests in an entertaining manner.
- Follow the tour guidelines ensuring all important points are mentioned but add your own personality and learned information to the tour.
- Follow the required tour time.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Professional experience in bar service or able to demonstrate the ability to efficiently work in a fast-paced, demanding environment while maintaining professional and friendly dealings with the public. Multitask, carry several drinks, memorize drink orders, and flow well with others in very tight quarters.
- Be able to taste and identify faults in cocktails and spirits.
- Communicate in public with all types of people (customers and coworkers)
- Must be able to work on your feet most of the day
- Use of hands and arms for repetitive motions
- Safely lift 50 lbs.
- Maintain a personal email account
- Comfortable using computers: Square POS, HomeBase, Excel, Email.
- Ability to answer the phone and take detailed messages.
- Must be 21 years of age.
Etc.
- This is a part-time job Wednesday - Saturday shifts typically between 12p-12a. Some special events may require different hours and tasks.

Pay: $8.00 - $12.00 per hour
