Big Basin Vineyards: Tasting Room Associate (Boulder Creek, CA)

BBV is hiring Tasting Room Associate for our Estate Vineyards + Winery Tasting Room in Boulder Creek, CA.

Open Positions: Tasting Room Associates. Part-time opportunities, focus needed for Friday evenings (live music event nights). Weekend availability for standard Tasting Room operations are secondary.

Seeking individuals who are:

• Passionate about the wine industry, tasting wines and discovering the nuances that make each one unique. ***IMPORTANT: Previous wine experience, wine education, wine courses or wine certifications are preferred. Otherwise you must have an eagerness to train and learn about the craft of winemaking and how to educate customers in a tasting room setting.

• Feel a strong connection between environmental vineyard care and quality of wine

• Enjoy educating about the craft of winemaking and viticultural practices

• Prioritize customer service, soft socialized selling, and education as a foundation to their business practice

• Experience in hospitality, fine dining, tasting rooms, enology, viticulture, or harvest work is a plus

• Eager to continue learning about the industry by participating in the on-going education opportunities we host for our staff

• Brings ideas to the table and contributes to the overall success of the business

• Create a positive first impression for every guest that enters our tasting room

• Perform opening and closing procedures including, but not limited to, setting up patio furniture, ensuring cleanliness of the tasting room and surrounding facilities at all times, restocking wines and accessories, cleaning and polishing glasses, tracking sales and bottles opened, tasting wines to identify potential flaws

• Accurately enter orders in POS software

• Cultivate a sense of community by developing on-going customer relationships and creating memorable experiences to further the growth of our wine club

Skills & Qualifications: The ideal candidate has the following qualities:

• Friendly, approachable demeanor and can comfortably engage a wide variety of people
• Team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to work with others

• Knowledge, experience and passion for wine and wine related topics and a willingness to continually explore and expand this knowledge

• Strong communication skills with the ability to speak confidently about wines and our winemaking process

• Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to anticipate customer needs

• Ability to multitask and stay focused in a fast-paced environment

• Detail oriented and self-motivated - ability perform duties with minimal supervision in a manner consistent with policies and procedures

• Computer literate (experience with Square, Tock and VineSpring is a plus)

• Willingness to work weekends on a consistent basis

• Must be 21 years of age

• Ability to lift 25lbs and stand for long periods of time
