Job Summary:

The Systems Programming Analyst contributes to the evaluation, design, development, testing, operational maintenance, protection, and support of UPS technology assets through Information Services (I.S.) environment life cycle (e.g., mainframe, midrange, open systems and x86/x64 architectures, storage, mobile and fixed devices, etc.). He/She contributes to the evaluation, design, testing, implementation, maintenance, performance, capacity tuning, and support of third-party infrastructures, applications, and appliances (i.e., transaction, collaboration, communications protocols, application delivery, virtualization, and directory services). This position assists with design, implementation, maintenance, and support of storage and back-up and recovery solutions. The Systems Programming Analyst assists in the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of I.S. Security models for the UPS I.S. environments. This position executes processes to improve the reliability, efficiency, and availability of the systems environment. He/She serves as a subject matter expert for administration, maintenance, customization, and support of workforce automation tools to increase organizational efficiency. He/She documents and validates business continuity plans. This position utilizes basic templates and tools for activities and duties of low risk, minimal impact, low complexity, and scope.

This position is a technical role with the Worldport Platform Engineering team. Worldport Platform Engineering works with application development teams to provide patch management, certificates management, and hardware/operating system obsolescence for systems in Worldport, the UPS all-points air hub based in Louisville, Kentucky. WP Platform Engineering works with infrastructure groups in New Jersey to coordinate platform maintenance upgrades for Worldport systems. WP Platform Engineering also acts as systems integrators for vendor written/supported applications in the hub. This position is responsible for assisting with the coordination of the monthly Linux patching cadence, Windows server management for vendor applications, and desktop management of vendor supported applications in Worldport. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting application teams with the build process for new servers, tracking certificates, and working with external vendors.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Some experience with Project Management
• Some working knowledge of LAN Technologies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Some working knowledge of Linux
• Some working knowledge of the Windows OS Build process
• Some scripting experience in bash, perl, powershell, or C#
• Troubleshooting background and some skills in root cause analysis
• Basic familiarity with SSL/TLS certificates and their use
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline or the equivalent in education and work experience

Preferences:

• Advanced scripting experience and/or application development background
• Some experience using clusters on Linux and Windows platforms
• Some experience querying Active Directory
• Some experience using Oracle and/or SQL databases
• Some experience with ssh public/private key management
