DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES
Rockland County Department of General Services Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a candidate to work in their fast-paced technology unit. The work is specialized, diverse and can be complex in nature.
Job description: This is technical and administrative work involving responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day operations of computer systems, analyzing needs, designing, developing, and modifying computer programs pertaining to specialized applications. Does related work as required.
This position supports County ITS’s responsibility of maintaining a secure, available, and stable computing environment for the County’s Peoplesoft ERP system. This work includes maintaining server hardware, server software, and Oracle Database administration duties. The ideal candidate would have a strong technical background and the ability to work independently on large and small projects. The major technical skills required for this position include VMware, Linux, Puppet IT Automation, and enterprise networking.
The work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-level administrator.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems (MIS), or comparable curriculum and three (3) years of experience in systems administration, network administration, computer system support, computer training, systems analysis or programming, or any combination thereof, or
- An Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems (MIS), or comparable curriculum, and five (5) years of the required experience in #1 above.
Other Requirements and Information:
- Residency in Rockland County is a requirement for this position.
- This is a competitive position in Civil Service and reachability on a test would be a requirement for permanent appointment.
