Summary:
As a member of the IT Team at Forney Industries, the Systems Administrator I is responsible for managing and supporting critical server/network infrastructure, onboarding new employees, and providing day-to-day support for back office and application management. The Systems Administrator I will also have responsibilities within the service desk for Tier 1-3 incidents, hardware lifecycle management systems, operating systems deployment and patching, backups, cybersecurity applications (spam filter, virus protection and 2FA). As a member of the IT department, the Systems Administrator will participate in IT projects and other assigned duties as needed. The Forney user base consists of over 130+ associates located in three sites spanning two states, plus a sales force of 70 associates that are distributed throughout the United States.

- Microsoft Office 365 administration and Support
- Barracuda Spam filter /Office 365 backups
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008-2016
- Patching WSUS Config. and Support
- Create and maintain PowerShell scripts
- File/Share NTFS permissions
- SSL certificate management
- Domain Controller support:
- DNS, RADIUS (Wi-Fi / VPN)
- Microsoft Active Directory Administration
- Monitor AD synchronization to Azure
- DUO & Microsoft 2FA
- VMware 6.7 or higher
- SAN-Nimble storage appliance management
- Datto Server backup
- Business continuity/ DR

- Preferred, but not required:

- Microsoft Dynamics AX security
Education and/or Experience:
AAS or BA in Computer Information Systems required; 2 years or greater of experience working in an IT Systems Administrator role required; Experience supporting Windows Client and Server Operating Systems; Windows Active Directory Environments, Windows Server Print Management, strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft technologies required. Must have experience working in a distributed network and know basic troubleshooting of network and client/server applications. Prior experience in a customer service, support, or service desk type environment with positive results. Strong communication skills required.
Requirements
Other Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Performs analysis of network needs and contributes to design of network architecture, integration, and installation.
- Installs and maintains local area network hardware and software, including servers, peripherals, network nodes, terminals, and wiring.
- Evaluates local area network hardware and software requirements and capabilities and makes recommendations.
- Coordinates installation of hardware and software.
- Provides support to and trains users in local area network administration and usage.
- Monitors and maintains network stability.
- Communicates and coordinates network schedule, backups, and downtime to users.
- Coordinates third-party maintenance for network hardware, software, and telecommunications services.
- Prepares and maintains documentation of network, data circuit, server configurations and cabling layouts.
- Up to 10-15% travel.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
AAS or BA in Computer Information Systems required; 2 years or greater of experience working in an IT Systems Administrator role required; Experience supporting Windows Client and Server Operating Systems; Windows Active Directory Environments, Windows Server Print Management, strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft technologies required. Ability to use concepts of basic algebra and geometry to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, ratio, rate, area, circumference, and volume.

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. The work environment is a traditional office setting with occasional need to perform duties in a manufacturing / packaging/ production environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to work near moving mechanical parts or fumes/airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibration. Office dress is business casual.
