Survey Party Chief / Crew Leader – Dallas
DAL-TECH, a SAFEbuilt Company, has enjoyed success providing quality consulting engineering and surveying services to both the public and private sectors for over the past 25 years. Dal-Tech is currently seeking a talented, Survey Crew Chief to join their team. Work as a member of a survey crew performing boundary, topography, ALTA, right of way and construction surveys for public and private clients. You’ll be a member of our highly respected team with a full complement of resources to support you and exciting projects to keep you challenged.
Must be experienced in collecting data for design and boundaries and have used both Trimble equipment’s and Leica.
Job Requirements:
- Considerable knowledge of standard terminology, techniques, and practices of land surveying.
- Considerable knowledge of mathematics through trigonometry and its application to field survey computations.
- Acts as chief, supervising all phases of work in the field
- Performs the more difficult survey tasks supervising the use of the theodolite and electronic survey equipment or level
- Assure crew adheres to procedures in safety manual and uses all personal safety equipment provided.
- Plan daily activities considering multiple projects.
- Makes final decisions on all field problems
- Perform field survey activities in accordance with standards set by the company, state statues and the American Congress of Surveying & Mapping
- Makes necessary calculations to establish location and elevation of surface features; sets benchmarks, land corners, and elevations; measures distances; determines grades and elevations; takes canal soundings.
- Communicate with the entire crew and office staff about all aspects of the projects.
- Assignments are received in both specific and general terms with latitude for independent judgment in planning work details and making limited technical and supervisory decisions.
- General supervision is received from a technical or professional superior who reviews work through observation of results obtained.
- Prepare daily time sheets, data logs, expense reports and field change orders.
- Participate in Survey Department and/or crew training.
Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans.
- Ability to make moderately complex mathematical computations accurately.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and sketches.
- Skill in the use and care of surveying equipment employed in the area of assignment.
- Ability to express ideas effectively orally and in writing.
Supervisory Requirements:
- Supervise crew-level vehicle and equipment inventory, loading and maintenance. Supervise crew’s use of equipment, preparation of sketches and notes, and electronic data collection. Provide input to field crew supervisor for formal performance evaluation of crew members.
