In this role you will provide administrative support to an ophthalmology multi-specialty practice. Responsibilities include: * Performing insurance verification in advance of patient visits * Obtain pre-authorizations for managed care patients * Greet patients and perform check-in and/or check-out and * Schedule patient appointments Salary Range: $26.99-38.66 Hourly

Required: * Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain records in a clear and orderly manner at the direction of the Office Manager. * Excellent interpersonal skills which promote pleasant and effective communications with patients, staff and doctors. * Sufficient knowledge of ophthalmology and its related terminology. * Working knowledge of basic medical terminology and diseases as it applies to the eye. * Familiarity with current billing practices including governmental plans. * Experience scheduling patient appointments in a computerized system. * Ability to clearly speak and write in English using correct grammar. * Sufficient computer keyboard skills to perform appointment scheduling, emailing and other related computer tasks. * Ability to prioritize tasks in a systematic manner to maximize efficiency. * Ability to demonstrate professionalism while dealing with the stressors of operating a multi-line telephone system. * Ability to work with frequent interruptions and to complete assignments in a timely manner. * Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision. * Ability to multitask. Preferred: * One year of experience working in medical office. * Working knowledge of basic medical terminology and diseases as it applies to the eye. * Familiarity with current billing practices including governmental plans. * Experience scheduling patient appointments in a computerized system. * Knowledge of State and Federal programs to ensure reimbursement from Medicare, Medi-Cal, CCS programs and other sponsoring agencies.
