Position Responsibilities:

  • Verifies accuracy of shipment by counting, weighting or measuring items and comparing to information on invoice or packing slip and purchase order.
  • Inspects items for damages or defects such as spoilage, dents, and breakage.
  • Performs temperature checks of potential hazardous foods.
  • Attaches invoice to purchase order and forward to Dietary Office for recording.
  • Prioritizes storage of items received, stocking frozen and refrigerated items immediately upon receipt. Stock grocery items stored at room temperature last.
  • Carries, hand truck or pallet jack items from receiving area to proper storage areas.
  • Fills all requisitions accurately. Notifies manager when there is a problem.
  • Assists with weekly inventory in orderly manner by stocking all like items neatly 6" off the floor.
  • Trains new employees by explaining storeroom maintenance procedures.
  • Orders routine supplies from hospital.
  • Cleans storage bins weekly and assures scoops are not in food products.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
  • At least one year experience in a healthcare setting, preferred. Some experience in warehouse materials handling, preferred. Some experience using an automated inventory system preferred. Knowledge of medical/surgical products preferred.
