Job Description

• Provide expert technical leadership in coordinating, facilitating, motivating, and directing efforts of cross-functional program teams and ensures efficient use of team resources.
• Support engineering development of BEV/PHEV/HEV battery systems
• Provide expert technical leadership in coordinating, facilitating, motivating, and directing program quality efforts, providing supplier quality evaluations, selection and assessments.
• Responsibilities:
• Partner withProduct Engineering and suppliers in developing DFMEA and PFMEA and APQP activities related to ongoing changes to production part numbers.
• Champion Corporate Quality Standards on supply base and ensure compliance.
• Maintain quality records, forms, and documentation in accordance with quality assurance systems and processes.
• Manage and oversee the disciplined problem-solving exercises for quality spills from existing production suppliers. Includes containment, interim corrective action, root cause problem-solving, long-term corrective action, verification of fix, and lessons learned.
• Support re-sourcing activities, including evaluation of the new supplier source, oversight of production readiness from a quality standpoint, and facilitation & approval of new PPAP exercises in accordance with AIAG requirements.
• Identify and work with strategic suppliers to reach best-in-class status from quality performance and delivery perspectives.
• Support the customer as needed for warranty items related to unacceptable quality.
• Partner with supplier to identify root causes of warranty failures and oversee verification and implementation of fixes.
• Manage incoming product quality and fit and function in final assembly.
• Responsible for technical arrangements and determinations which have been agreed to with the suppliers.
• Support of construction (with the target of first possible cooperation with strategic suppliers) on the production compatible design of the product. (Demand of process-sure production)
• Support Change Management, ensure quality is not detrimentally affected due to changes requested by Battery Systems, the customer, or the supplier.
• Inspect the emergency plan and the failure strategy of the supplier.
• Provide Technical supplier evaluation as decision assistance for the determination of suppliers according to: Technique / Technology, Product, already manufactured reference products at the supplier, and Technical "competition analysis" with several candidates. (Technology, Technique ...)
• Support response to queries as well as to quotation verification.
• Impact the supplier selection due to technical arguments and experiences with problem suppliers.
• Identify concerns and initiate corrective actions relating to product, process, and quality system.
• Initiate preventative continuous improvement actions related to product, process and quality systems.
• Work with suppliers to improve processes, controls, measurement systems to lower external PPM's.
• Support workshops toward overall cost reduction without compromise to quality.
• Create risk analyses to rate suppliers and facilitates sourcing council.
• Assist Senior Purchasing Manager and Buyers in assessing Strengths and Weaknesses of Suppliers.

Required Experience & Skills

• 5+ years of experience in quality engineering in the automotive industry
• 3+ years of recent experience with lithium batteries, wire harnesses or castings
• Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, organizational and communication skills

Education Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $38.00 - $50.00 per hour
