Job description
Defense contractor involved with product development and manufacturing of various systems for military aerospace and vehicles in the Los Angeles International Airport area. With a 50+ year foundation, The Marvin Group supports all branches of the Department of Defense and allies around the globe on an array of programs and platforms. We support many military prime contractors including Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon.
SCOPE
Overall Supervisor responsibility for the procurement of all outside processing services in support of applicable schedules and budgets. The position is responsible for providing departmental leadership and direction, with an emphasis on purchasing cost controls, supplier partnerships, high performance team building and the professional development of department staff. Position will be accountable for the performance measures for Purchasing as established by department goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise the procurement of parts, Complex machining, Plating and Painting of product services to ensure business and program schedules support on-time delivery and quality performance standards
- Establish and maintain a procurement policy and procedure manual that (1) effectively describes an efficient, professional methodology to conduct procurement activities, and (2) meets the requirements of customer, internal or governmental audit procedures
- Develop a professional enhancement program for departmental staff that includes ongoing technical skill improvement
- Develop and implement sound business practices and supplier partnerships that control purchasing costs and increase the effectiveness of CMT's (Commodity Management Teams}
- Applies the Company's Equal Opportunity Policy to all personnel actions and implements effective affirmative action to ensure attainment of the goals and objectives of the facility
- Identify, track and report key functional metrics to reduce costs and improve effectiveness while leading and executing purchasing strategies.
- Prepares and conducts regular employee performance reviews with each member of the staff, at least on an annual basis
- Provides leadership and direction with emphasis on team building through effective communications
- Develops an efficient organizational structure that is responsive to program requirements and changes. Assigns effective lines of responsibility and authority including the development of key personnel to maintain departmental performance for subordinates
- Appraises purchasing personnel of their progress and advises them regarding professional and skills development to further their career objectives and produce a more effective work force
SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of progressively responsible purchasing experience in a large aerospace manufacturing environment. Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience will be considered.
- Experienced working knowledge of MRP systems, 5 recently continuous years of SAP purchasing transactions, and advanced personal computer skills are required
- High understanding of cost and price analysis techniques and key trends
- Excellent mathematics skills
- High understanding of FAR/DFAR requirements
- Excellent communication and high performance team building skills
