The Kyle Hyland Foundation for Teen Support (KHF) is a non-profit foundation whose mission is to provide charitable and educational support to youth by offering mental health programs and other services, and to maintain a center where teens can be provided emotional support through mentoring, counseling, music and art. The KHF serves a vital need in the community and the organization is the only one of its kind, not only in Benicia but in many other surrounding cities. If you are interested in inspiring, motivating, and impacting the young people in our community, then working at the Benicia Teen Center (BTC) is the place for you!

The Benicia Teen Center (BTC) is a drop-in center where teens can play music, do art, watch movies, do homework, and play pool, ping pong, etc. The BTC is “a safe place for teens to fall”, a place where they can spend time with their friends as well as caring adults in the community. BTS is open to all Benicia residents or Benicia Unified School District students 13 to 19 years old, and their guests. The BTC, “your home away from home”, provides a place for ALL teens to hang out and enjoy themselves in a stress-free and creative environment.

KHF seeks a part-time Summer Teen Center Assistant for the Benicia Teen Center to provide general supervision and mentoring to teens and help leading special events and activities.

Typical Work Schedule: Tu- Th- Fri, 1:45--5:15pm (~10 hours/week) with expanded hours for special events.

Term of Employment: Start date to Aug 31, 2023

Notes:

• Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
• This position will require a pre-employment criminal background check, which includes fingerprinting. The KHF is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide supervision and mentoring of teens at the Benicia Teen Center (BTC)
• Actively cultivate meaningful relationships to ensure every member feels connected to one or more adults and peers.
• Act as a positive role model for teens
• Work the snack bar
• Help with set up before opening and clean up after closing, as needed
• Participate in BTC/KHF events, programs and functions

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Minimum Age: 20 years
• Experience working with youth highly desired
• Experience with social media highly desired
• Must provide own vehicle/transportation, have a valid state driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
• Must be fully vaccinated for Covid 19. Completion of booster strongly recommended.
• Pass pre-employment background check

BENEFITS

Health care and 401K to be offered only to employees working 30 or more hours per week.
