Summer Staff is a student assistant position with the Housing & Residential Life team. As a live-in staff member, Summer Staff provides both administrative and residential services. Summer Staff report directly to the Assignments Coordinator and Associate Director of Housing Operations. Summer Staff are the front line of Housing, and must demonstrate the ability to act in a professional, mature, and assertive manner.

Specific Duties
  • Perform customer service in person and over the phone.
  • Be familiar with policies and procedures contained in the Resident Handbook and department website.
  • Attend all staff meetings and scheduled in-service training sessions.
  • Serve “On-Duty” weeknights and weekends as assigned to perform walk-throughs of the residence halls.
  • Perform lockout procedures.
  • Perform special tasks from the Customer Service Coordinator and Director of Residence Life and Student Conduct

Minimum Qualifications
  • Be able to work 20 hours/week.
  • Be in good financial standing with the University of La Verne.
  • Be in good judicial standing with the University of La Verne and Housing & Residential Life.
  • Maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average prior to starting the job.

Benefits Summary

Employees are eligible for the following benefits:

One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours.

University of La Verne Defined Contribution Retirement Plan – can contribute employee voluntary contributions, excluding wages derived from federal work study funds.

In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week, will be eligible for medical coverage through the University of La Verne.

Covered under the University of La Verne Workers Compensation Insurance.
