About the Student Life Department

Fusion Global Academy has an opening for a Student Life Mentor with an English Language Arts/Math focus to facilitate homework completion, help develop executive functioning skills, and build a Global community in our Global Homework Cafe (GHC) for grades 6-12. Candidates must have excellent instructional skills in their area of focus, positive energy, the ability to function in a high-paced virtual environment, and self-motivation. They must respect the personhood of the student, creating connective relationships while maintaining authority, boundaries, and discipline. Student Life Mentors, when not working with students on academic assignments, will participate in community events, clubs, social meetups, student meetings, and administrative support tasks.

Direct Supervisor: Lauren Lock

Anticipated Summer Hours: Monday - Thursday: 12:30 PM - 6:30 PM ET, Friday: 11:30 AM - 4:30 PM ET plus planning time. Thirty-minute lunch break.

Anticipated Fall Hours: Monday - Thursday: 1:30 PM to 8:30 PM ET; Friday: 11:30 AM to 4:30 PM ET plus planning time. One-hour lunch break.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Monitor and facilitate students' progress in the completion of daily homework in the area of content focus.
  • Work with students to develop executive functioning skills.
  • Communicate with teachers and Student Life supervisor(s) on student progress.
  • Promote a positive social environment for students.
  • Develop and maintain genuine, positive, and consistent communication with FGA social/emotional and academic leadership.
  • Contribute to the campus community.
  • Practice professionalism through ongoing professional development, reflection, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform required weekly 1:1 Student Connections with high-need students (specified by the Assistant Director of Student Life).
  • Significant student mentoring.
  • Participate in and co-lead campus clubs, events, mini-series, and media initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Student Life and/or Director of Student Life.
