The Division of Student Affairs at the University of Utah provides an array of services and programs to help students benefit fully from their educational programs and to help the University carry out its mission of research, teaching, and service. With the growth of the University and the 2023 opening of a joint SLCC/U of U campus in Herriman, the Division of Student Affairs is excited to begin serving students who earn an associate’s degree from SLCC and then attend the University of Utah to earn a bachelor’s degree, all at one location.

The Student Affairs Campus & Site Services Manager provides logistical oversite for on-campus Student Affairs help desk functions and operations. The Campus & Site Services Manager facilitates the day-to-day operations of the help desk by ensuring a consistent level of service, both in-person and virtually, to help achieve the Division of Student Affairs mission, vision, and values at the site. The manager assists students with a wide range of student support functions in the following areas: Student support and accountability (office of the Dean of Students), campus and public safety, University counseling services, accommodations, and assistive technology services (Center for Disability and Access), and access to basic needs/resources.

The University of Utah seeks an independent, highly motivated, student-centered, and dedicated professional to serve as the Student Affairs Campus & Site Services Manager. Due to the nature of this position, incumbents will be required to work in person.

Responsibilities
Leadership and Oversight of Help Desk Operations:
  • In collaboration with the Engage U Director, ensure continuity of day-to-day operations and support partnerships specific to the site. Work with internal and external partners to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and logistics at the site.
  • Facilitate the day-to-day operations of the help desk by ensuring a consistent level of service, both in-person and virtually, to help achieve the Division of Student Affairs mission, vision, and values at the site.
  • Assist students with a wide range of student support functions in the following areas: Student support and accountability (office of the Dean of Students), campus and public safety, University counseling services, accommodations and assistive technology services (Center for Disability and Access), and access to basic needs/resources.
  • Engage in ongoing training and education regarding Student Affairs departmental functions, operations, and points of contact for students.
  • Refer/schedule student appointments regarding elevated situations to the appropriate departments or operations within Student Affairs.
  • In collaboration with the Associate Dean of Students, annually assess and review service delivery to ensure that student needs are being met.
  • Participate in appropriate Engage U staff meetings and programming


Site Safety & Emergency Response:
  • Be familiar with and supportive of site emergency and safety protocols.
  • Work with Engage U Director and other site personnel to identify and address safety concerns.
  • Report safety issues and security breaches to appropriate authorities immediately.

Programming/Outreach/Education:
  • Coordinate periodic programming, outreach, and education efforts to the University community with campus partners (Student Leadership & Involvement, Bennion Center, etc.).
  • Facilitate trainings and presentations as needed, on behalf of the following areas: Dean of Students Office, University Counseling Center, Center for Disability and Access, Basic Needs Center, and Public Safety.
  • Receive regular trainings from the above-mentioned departments to ensure services are up-to-date and provided according to policy and procedure.

Student Records, Record Keeping, and Documentation:
  • Create, update, and maintain accurate and timely case notes
  • Utilize departmental software to document incoming and outgoing communications including behavioral reports, requests for campus resources, referrals for services, meeting notes, document collection, and action logs
  • Submit referrals/requests for services via the appropriate forms, websites, etc.
  • Ensure that information management procedures comply with federal and state requirements and University policies (FERPA, Clery, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).

Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, including listening and speaking with diverse populations, proactive problem solving, conflict resolution, sound decision making, and a friendly welcoming demeanor
  • Ability to work with other professionals who represent a variety of disciplines including but not limited to: law enforcement, faculty, staff, and community partners
  • Ability to prioritize and work autonomously in a high-traffic, independent campus environment
  • Experience working with sensitive and confidential information
  • Strong awareness, sensitivity, and commitment to work with individuals representing a range of races, color, religions, national origins, sex, age, status of a disabled individuals, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, or veteran status
  • Strong desire to contribute to student success and achievement of educational goals
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft or other computerized student information systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and general office procedures
