JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Deli Clerk

JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a primary contact for Safeway customers, the Deli Clerk provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service. Operates computerized cash register and electronic scale in store delicatessen to weigh, wrap, itemize, and total customer’s purchases. May take deli orders face to face or by telephone. Prepares deli food for hot and cold deli cases. Slices and wraps meats and cheeses for special order or to fill deli case.
Prepares deli fruit or seasonal trays for display or special order. May replenish items in coffee area and deli case. Checks and maintains appropriate level of supplies in deli area. May retrieve product from storage area and stock freezer, cooler, or storage room as appropriate. Washes dishes, pots, pans.
Sweeps and mops floors as needed. Cleans interior of display cases. Changes oil and filter in deep fryer and sanitizes food preparation equipment as necessary.

JOB DUTIES:
Safeway Deli Clerks employees are generally responsible for completing the following job duties:
1. Provide customer service as currently defined by the employer within the scope of the position and within company policy.
2. Prepare hot and cold deli food and display in deli cases for sale to customer.
3. Operate slicers and other food preparation equipment.
4. Use scales and volume measures to apportion product correctly.
5. Total bill, count payment, and make change.
6. Take deli orders over telephone or in person.
7. Inventory stock, restock, and face shelves of deli cases on sales floor.
8. Sanitation of deli area.
9. Performs temperature and tare checks daily.
10. Other duties as assigned.

1. Ability to follow company customer service procedures. Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
2. Ability to interact with customers and co-workers.
3. Ability to understand and follow instructions.

JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Cashier-Checker JOB DESCRIPTION: As the primary contact for Safeway customers, the Cashier-Checker provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service. Primarily responsible for operating computerized cash register to itemize and total customer’s purchases. This is done by passing items in front of an electronic UPC code scanner, or inputting UPC information into a keyboard. Reviews price sheets to note price changes in sale items. Records prices and departments, subtotals taxable items, and totals purchases on cash register. Collects cash, check, or electronic payments from customer and makes change for transactions. Places purchased items in bags. May weigh items, redeem food stamps, WIC checks, promotional coupons, cash checks, check ID for liquor and cigarettes, sell stamps. May return merchandise found defective or unwanted by the customer to the appropriate location. May trouble shoot card reader or scanner errors. May replace paper in printers. May deal with customer complaints or price disputes. May answer telephone or make or answer intercom pages. JOB DUTIES: Safeway Cashier-Checker employees are generally responsible for completing the following job duties: 1. Operate electronically scanning cash register to total customers’ final bill. 4. Responsible for ringing up all merchandise including product on bottom of grocery cart. Receive payment for customer purchase. 5. Bag groceries in plastic, canvas or paper bags. Lift bags into grocery cart. Offer customer assistance with carry out, and perform that task if a Courtesy Clerk is not available. 6. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Includes check stand area (belt and glass), and facing and straightening up end display areas near check stand. 7. Replace stock in displays surrounding the checkout area as needed. 8.
