Utilize knowledge and skills in executing activities of sterile processing department maintains a safe environment for patient products, coworkers, and self

Maintains current knowledge in the area of sterile processing

Demonstrates effective implementation of organizational skills

Assumes responsibility for professional activities

Skills and abilities to make rapid, spontaneous decisions and flexibility to function independently

Thorough knowledge of care, storage, and maintenance of all surgical instruments, procedure trays, supplies, and equipment used in Sterile Processing Department

Must possess the skills to communicate with vendors and understand purchasing procedures

Must possess positive interpersonal relation skills

Must understand regulatory requirements related to sterile processing

Good physical and mental health

Able to work independently and under stressful conditions

Subject to burns and cuts and may be exposed to infection when working with contaminated equipment, instruments, glassware, and sterilizers

Lifting and moving supplies and equipment

Education/Experience:

High school graduate

Successful completion of CBSPD or a graduate of accredited school of Surgical Technology

Previous experience in Sterile Processing department or a minimum of 2 years Surgical Technologist experience
