Purpose Statement:
Purpose Statement:
The job of Student Information System/AzEDS Specialist is done for the purpose/s of providing first-line support, verifying/reconciling data for the District Student Information System (SIS) providing data verification support to the school, and functioning as a centralized source for school-specific Synergy assistance.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist school as the SIS School Site Administrator by maintaining current SIS systems, creating or modifying SIS systems, and being the point of contact for SIS-related issues
- Assist the school in “cleaning up” of Synergy SIS program after the final rollover to maintain accurate student information.
- Assist the school in verifying enrollment of dropout-coded students to maintain accurate student information data.
- Assist school with attendance validation as reported to AzEDS to maintain accurate student information data.
- Assist school with processes for registration/master schedule/mass scheduling to maintain accurate student information data.
- Enter all Needs related data in Synergy - ELL, Special Services (SpEd, Gifted, and Homebound), Special Ed Private Paid, Homeless, Title 1, etc. to maintain accurate student information data.
- Maintain subgroup codes in Synergy to maintain accurate student information data.
- Ongoing verification of data for subgroups including Special Area, ELL, and Ethnic Codes to maintain accurate student information data.
- Prepare corrections in AzEDS to maintain accurate student information data.
- Run AzEDS verification reports to ensure all students are properly enrolled in Synergy and AzEDS for ADM and are assigned to appropriate subgroups; making corrections and resubmitting to AzEDS as needed.
- Update tables in Synergy related to Special Area functions to maintain accurate student information data.
- Assist school with CTE data and attendance to maintain accurate student information data.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
SKILLS:
are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE:
- is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions.
- Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: one to three years of school database experience and/or Synergy and AzEDS experience preferred.
ABILITY:
- is required to schedule activities; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider several factors when using the equipment.
- Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of processes.
- Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize job-related equipment.
- In working with others, problem-solving is required to identify issues and create action plans.
- Problem-solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines, and problem-solving with equipment is moderate.
- Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; meeting deadlines and schedules; working with detailed information/data; working as part of a team; maintaining confidentiality; maintaining appropriate interpersonal relations with district/site administration staff, technical support, ADE,, and vendor support; and to perform work which may not be standardized as to time.
