Job Description Summary

The GE Aerospace Staff Design Engineer demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

The LEAP Engine Program Staff Design Engineer role will build and leverage multiple skill sets including project execution, technical leadership, analysis, design, and hardware ownership. You will lead turbine design and product improvement activities. This role has autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work as well as mentor others
  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering support to team supporting the design
  • Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the technical discipline and use technical expertise to execute policy/strategy
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
  • Participate on teams to address organizational initiatives and business challenges
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
  • Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college (or high school diploma/GED with 6 years' experience in design engineering)
  • Minimum of 5 additional years of experience in a relevant engineering position
