POSITION SUMMARY

This is a professional position requiring a person who is highly motivated, committed, and a self-starter to provide accounting support to the Chief Executive Officer and other managers within the organization. The Staff Accountant keys into the general ledger system, manages and directs the disbursement of individual’s funds and provides fiscal accounting to the participant or family, processes payroll and all related federal and state taxes, ensures files are complete and maintained, handles financial reporting, oversees accounts payable/receivables duties, and assists personnel.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Staff Accountant has primary responsibility for the following (This list shall not be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of an incumbent):

  • Perform accounts payable and accounts receivable duties.
  • Regularly maintain detailed reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts.
  • Post monthly, quarterly and yearly accruals.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and year end reports.
  • Ensure billing issues are researched and resolved.
  • Research, track, and resolve accounting problems.
  • Process Payroll and all related federal and state taxes.
  • Perform financial reporting duties.
  • Maintain assigned reports in a timely manner.
  • Work with adding machines, calculators and databases.
  • Prepare journal entries.
  • Maintain fixed assets.
  • Prepare documentation for external auditors.
  • Special projects as requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively individually and as part of a team with other staff members and supervisors throughout the organization.
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, self-disciplined, energetic, flexible to varying schedules, and deadline conscious.
  • High level of initiative and ability to maintain cordial working relationships with staff and others.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding individual and privileged financial and other information.
  • Must be able to carry out delegated assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage and complete multiple tasks is an asset.
  • Ability to work with other agencies, groups, and individuals in a cooperative manner to carry out specific tasks of the position and the broader goals of the agency
  • Personal and reliable mode of transportation with proper liability insurance in accordance with agency transportation policy required.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
  • Must be able to undergo and pass a criminal background check.
  • Must have interest in working with Individuals with intellectual and developmental disability.
  • Clear and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be willing and available to attend departmental and outside educational offerings as required by agency policy and attend all mandatory training sessions as required for job knowledge and retention.
  • Must be able to articulate, market and promote the philosophy of Pristine Health Services Inc. and its programs.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in accounting
  • Minimum two (2) years of documented experience desired and one (1) year human services industry preferred.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of computer and be proficient in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks.
  • Ability to communicate and be a fast learner.
  • Ability to work well independently with good organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage and complete multiple tasks is an asset.
  • Participate in educational opportunities to update job knowledge.

Pay: $37,440.00 - $41,600.00 per year
