SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
This is an entry level position in a public accounting firm for an aspiring professional in accounting. The individual should have the required education to sit for the CPA examination and a plan to successfully complete the exam or recently obtained the CPA license. The qualified candidate will have an opportunity for exposure to a wide array of public accounting work.
STAFF ACCOUNTANT OVERVIEW
Assist in the preparation of State & Federal Corporate, Partnership, Trust, Individual, and Payroll tax returns:
- Preparation of trial balances and adjusting journal entries.
- Ensure data is accurately inputted into tax software.
- Preparation of workpaper files tying client data and trial balances to tax returns.
- Work with senior staff to prepare tax return forms and schedules.
- Conduct tax research and the preparation of tax research memos.
- Assistance with Federal and State examination engagements.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements including work on assurance engagements:
- Preparation of trial balances and adjusting journal entries.
- Preparation of balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and cash flow statements.
- Preparation of ratio analysis to evaluate performance of a business.
- Performance of compilation, review, and audit procedures.
- Preparation of compilation, review, and audit workpapers including lead and detail schedules.
- Conduct accounting standards research and the preparation of accounting standards research memos.
Bookkeeping and monthly close engagements:
- Record receipts, disbursements, invoices, payables, and journal entries for businesses.
- Monthly and annual reconciliations of accounts for businesses.
- Process payroll and tax payments for businesses.
- Preparation of monthly, annual, and ad hoc reporting for businesses.
- Complete monthly close procedures for businesses using designed monthly close procedures.
Assist on management advisory engagements including litigation support:
- Assist in the preparation of damage reports and schedules.
- Research damage calculations and methodologies.
- Organize, reconcile, and maintain client documents for use in damage calculations.
- Assist in the preparation of damage reports and attachments.
- Preparation of workpapers to support damage calculations.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
