Position Title: Staff Accountant
Compensation: $55,000-$70,000/year commensurate with experience
Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant will provide support to the CFO with various accounting tasks related to the operations of the company.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures and controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
- Prepares periodic financial analysis reports; ensures that the reported results comply with US GAAP and reconciles or reviews reconciliation of financial accounts to ensure compliance and timely resolution.
- Assists with preparation of bank reporting and/or analysis.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Will routinely work with and must be proficient in accounting software such as MACOLA, SAP, or other comparable ERP systems.
- Performs additional related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- The right “can-do” attitude and job ownership in addition to excellent common sense, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of US GAAP accounting concepts/rules including at least a general understanding of consolidation principles.
- Ability to analyze transactions and provide suggestions that protect company assets and reduces risks.
- Tech savvy and interest in using technology to automate or improve processes.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software (in addition to above listed ERP requirements).
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality requirements.
- The ability to multi-task and change direction as needed.
- Interest in continuous learning and taking on new tasks.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred.
- 3 years or more of related experience required.
- Cost accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with Macola software preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Able to work outside of normal hours if necessary to ensure work is kept current and/or for occasional last-minute projects/ analyses.
- Travel is not a regular part of this position, but the candidate should be able to travel on occasion if necessary.
- Able to participate/represent the company at local business events on occasion.
