A real estate management company headquartered in Mesa is seeking to hire a full-time talented Staff Accountant. The ideal candidate will have experience in handling all aspects of the accounting cycle and will be comfortable with periodically travelling to and working out of our various properties located throughout the Greater Phoenix Area. The Staff Accountant will also be required to assist with the processing of the bi-weekly payroll of approximately 20 employees and therefore experience in using an online payroll processing software would be favourable.
The Staff Accountant’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Preparing monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements and reporting packages
- Reconciling monthly bank statements
- Reconciling various balance sheet accounts and preparing necessary journal entries
- Preparing the monthly rent roll and invoices for our commercial properties
- Monitoring short term cash flow and determining cash shortages or surpluses for distributions to ownership
- Preparing the annual CAM reconciliation for our commercial properties
- Verifying that all internal procedures related to all accounting functions are being followed correctly
- Assisting in the processing of the bi-weekly payroll
- Assisting when needed in the accounts payable process
- Assisting with the preparation of annual budgets
- Assisting the Corporate Controller with the year-end process
- Periodically auditing lease files
- Assisting the Corporate Controller as needed in the preparation of various accounting reports
- Providing clerical and administrative support to the property management staff as needed
Required Qualifications:
- An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or at least 5 years of relevant work experience
- A very strong attention to detail
- Computer literacy – specifically in using Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Excel with an ability to learn new software quickly
- Comfortable working in an autonomous environment; self-motivated
- A high level of professionalism
- Strong communication skills, ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to periodically travel to various properties located within the Greater Phoenix Area
Qualifications that would be considered a strong asset:
- Experience in the residential and/or commercial real estate industry
- Experience with the Real Page suite of property management and accounting software
- Experience in processing payroll, specifically using the Paychex Flex software

- An annual salary in the range of $60,000 - $80,000; based on experience
