Overview

We are looking for a Senior Sales and Use Tax Notice Analyst to join our fast-paced, dynamic company. This is a great opportunity for a candidate to work in an innovative environment and grow within our business. The Analyst is primarily responsible for the management and analysis of Tax Notice Issues received by our customers relating to the scheduled filing of their sales/use tax returns. Candidate must be detail-oriented and proficient at balancing multiple priorities/issues.

Responsibilities

Will work on a hybrid schedule. Majority of work will be done remotely, ability to work in office periodically is preferred.

Day to Day:
  • Research, analyze and resolve jurisdictional tax notices on behalf of our customers.
  • Develop a solid working knowledge of the most complex jurisdictions and be considered a "go to" person by your colleagues
  • Manage workload effectively in order to meet deadlines.
  • Work collaboratively with all staff members and management
  • Independently conduct root cause analysis within your assigned body of work and identify potential preventative actions.
  • Prepare, review, and file multi-jurisdictional sales/use, business and occupation, and gross receipts tax returns for monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual filings
  • Project Management: Identify areas for improvement or time sensitive issues, develop a project process, provide clear training for team members, assign action items and drive accountability for those actions, and communicate project status to leadership teams.
  • Identify, articulate and express changes within AvaTax, as well as how changes should be tested.
Communication:
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with customers, jurisdictions and other internal teams as part of research and resolution. Communication is clearly and professionally conducted in written, verbal and electronic formats.
  • Provide training and coaching to junior level employees on various projects and research processes.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or other four-year degree with equivalent experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of related experience in Indirect taxes which can include Sales & Use, Communications Tax, Lodging Taxes, among other tax types
  • Experience with Salesforce and Confluence/Jira
  • Strong professional written and verbal communication skills, including conveying information in a clear and simple method
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task to meet strict reporting and filing deadlines
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office such as Word and Excel
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to explain complex information with clarity and concision, while also simplifying for non-experts


Pay Range Details

The base pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

Colorado $62,600 - $97,000 [annually]

Washington $62,600 - $107,200 [annually]

California $62,600 - $117,400 [annually]

NYC $69,200 - $117,400 [annually]

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the state listed. The successful candidate’s actual salary/wage may be based on various factors, such as geographic location, candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

This role is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance, depending on the terms of the applicable plan and the employee’s role.
