Job Description:
Job Summary

This Sr Scrum Master joins the Bid & Aware Team, who is in an exciting crossroad of replacing multiple legacy applications on modern platforms with strong business partnership and collaboration. This high-functioning Team is looking for a strong Leader, advocate, and problem-solver to manage day-to-day development and accountability in this space. They'll also help to guide the Team on Agile transformative initiatives.

This Sr Scrum Master will serve as the liaison between the business (represented by the Product Owner) and Agile Software Development Teams. They'll lead two or more Agile Teams to reach peak productivity by utilizing coaching, mentoring, resolving impediments blocking a Team, helping to track Team progress, and solutioning for problems that may arise in the future. This role plays a critical role in the adoption of Scrum and other Agile development practices by the organization, and they'll have the opportunity to pilot the future of Southwest Airlines.


Additional details:
This role is offered as a remote workplace position, which may require travel for training, meetings, conferences, etc. Outside of those required visits, the majority of your working time may be spent in a remote location, away from our Corporate Campus. Please note, while this is a remote position, there is a limited group of states or localities ineligible for Employees to regularly perform their work. Those ineligible locations are: Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, Washington and Wyoming .

Responsibilities

Assess the Scrum maturity of multiple Agile Teams and provide coaching and mentoring when necessary

Educate and support peers in standardizing estimation across the Portfolio Team; ensure continuous refinement of estimation based on Team retrospectives

Identify impediments and potential solutions; challenge the status quo to improve quality, predictability, flow, and velocity

Partner with Product Owners to ensure prioritization, goals, scope, and product domain are fully understood by the Team

Lead effective grooming sessions through a comprehensive understanding of the Business domain and lead Teams in making appropriate commitments through story selection, task definition

Use data-driven analysis to coach Teams to continuously improve their productivity

Focus on ever-improving Team dynamics and performance; manage interpersonal conflicts, challenges, and opportunities for growth among the Team

Communicate effectively within the Team, with peers, Leaders, and Business partners; promote an environment of transparency

Drive improvements in the development lifecycle by promoting the use of automated builds, simple designs, multi-level testing, and pair programming

May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to demonstrate capacity in airport/airline operations, airport finances, contracts, and high regard for interpersonal relationships

Ability to develop strategies to analyze and negotiate a variety of documents and contracts

Skilled in strong organization and communication and be comfortable presenting to a variety of stakeholders both internal and external

Ability to utilize strong problem-solving in an unstructured environment as a self-starter and to create unique solutions to avoid recurring issues

Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deliver high quality solutions on time

Ability to effectively identify impediments to Team success and recommend solutions

Knowledge of multiple Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe ) and the ability to appropriately apply to different solutions to complex situations

Skilled in planning, preparing for, and leading meetings at an advanced proficiency

Skilled in building and maintaining critical relationships at multiple levels of organizations including the highest levels (for both Internal and External customers)

Ability to resolve most conflicts without escalation
Education

Required: High School Diploma or GED

Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business , Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent formal training

Experience

Required: Advanced-level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:

Scrum framework, Kanban methods, and SAFe ScrumXP

Velocity, flow, and team-level SAFe metrics

Techniques for increasing team effectiveness

Preferred: Experience in a senior-level scrum master role – certification preferred, but not required.

Preferred: Experience with Jira

Physical Abilities

Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station /desk/office area] for extended periods of time

Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines

Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

Must be at least 18 years of age

Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $118,600 per year to $ 131,800 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
