QC Microbiology Associate I

Location: Plainville, MA
Shift: Sunday-Wednesday (4 x 10 Hour Shifts)
How you will make an impact…
The Associate will be an integral member of the group ensuring routine environmental monitoring and critical utility testing throughout the facility. Additional key focuses will be to assist in the timely completion of in-process and release testing of clinical and commercial grade biopharmaceuticals, qualification/validation of analytical methods for support of viral vector cGMP compliant manufacturing and the transfer and validation of methods from clients. The incumbent will also support equipment, documentation, investigations and improvement initiatives withing QC Microbiology. Works cohesively with peers and QC Microbiology management.
What you will do…
- Conduct environmental monitoring and critical utility testing
- Conduct routine microbiology assays including bioburden, endotoxin testing, growth promotion, and plate enumeration.
- Record and report results of analysis in accordance with prescribed lab procedures and systems
- Recognize and report out of specification or unexpected results
- Perform daily lab cleaning, preventative maintenance of equipment, ordering of supplies, and autoclaving of equipment.
- Perform all duties in strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Laboratory Practices, and Safety guidelines.
- Maintain the necessary compliance status required by company and facility standards.
- Take part in process improvement initiatives & having a voice within the department.
How will you get here?
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in science; preferably Microbiology or Biology
Experience
- Experience performing environmental monitoring, critical utility sampling and microbiological assay is a plus
- 0 + years in a GMP Environment required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to gown and gain access to cleanroom and utility areas
- Ability to work with Spork-Klenz and 70% IPA.
- Position is considered essential personnel and may be required to staff the lab during inclement weather or other internal/external emergency situations
- Rotating holiday coverage
- Occasional off shift hours may be required to meet business needs
- Must be fluent in English
