Senior Product/Service Manager (Data)

Job Summary
Functions as the customer interface in determining technical product value and fit to meet BYU business objectives and to manage projects and services related to the assigned product portfolio. Directs a comprehensive strategy from product/service conception and definition through end of life. Functions as a central resource for the strategy, vision, research, requirements gathering, analysis, design, production, quality, test, communications and implementation as the product(s)/service(s) move through their lifecycle. Directs those involved in the design, modification and evaluation of all phases of a specific product/service or group of products/services. Ensures that timely, effective and reliable systems and services are delivered within established schedule and budget. Formulates and executes long-term plans for cost/benefit control. Promotes use of new technologies and industry-leading trends.

- Data Discovery & Catalog
- Data Delivery Services & Platforms (APIs, events/streams, data virtualization)
- Data Modeling
- Data Governance
- Data Production and Consumption Guidelines
- Data Consumer Services & Platforms (reports, business intelligence, analytics, data mining)
- Structured Data Platforms (relational databases, data warehouses)
- Unstructured Data Platforms (non-relational databases, data lakes)

What we are looking for:
Education and Experience:
This position provides an opportunity for people of varying levels of skill. If you have a lot of education, experience, and skill, we’ll compensate you accordingly. If you are early in your career, this could be a great opportunity for you, too. Different levels of pay are assigned by the hiring department depending on experience/education/skills and business needs.
Professional (Level 55T): Bachelor's degree and 5 years product/project management or business analysis experience, including 2 years supervisory/leadership experience OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Masters degree, experience in university operations, and product/project management certifications preferred. ($92,500 to $120,000 approximate starting salary range)
Senior Professional (Level 56T): Bachelor's degree and 10 years product/project management or business analysis experience, including 5 years management experience OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Masters degree, experience in university operations, product/project management certifications, and professional board membership preferred ($107,500 to $139,500 approximate starting salary range)
Skills, abilities, or knowledge:
You are not required to have experience in all areas listed below. What you don’t know we can teach you. We are seeking the most qualified candidates; the more you have, the more likely you are to be selected. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and skills.
- Security Engineering and/or data/database management experience
- Significant knowledge and experience with multiple data platforms
- Working knowledge of data solutions and providers
- Knowledge of API solutions and usage
- Working knowledge and demonstrated capability of learning technical aspects of Information Technology
- Basic understanding of IT development methodologies and systems development life cycle
- Experience evaluating and assembling technology services
- Management skills (i.e., managing meetings, problem management, budgeting)
- Microsoft Office Suite/Microsoft Project
- Roadmap creation
- Agile Project Management experience
- Domain-driven design (UX Design) principles, application, and implementation
- Testing and quality assurance principles and practices
- Product and project strategy and planning
- Competent writing and presentation skills
- Information gathering
- Marketing, Analytical, Financial, and Portfolio Management
- Industry trend analysis
- Knowledge of three or more technology portfolios
