Summary
The Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for routine and preventative maintenance of the Nexus Pharmaceuticals’ manufacturing site located in Pleasant Prairie, WI. May occasionally provide support to the Nexus Lincolnshire, IL location. Position ensures facility is operational and functioning to an exemplary level.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs of the building, associated equipment/systems, and grounds, including but not limited to electrical, controls, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, and fire alarm systems
- Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs of utility systems including steam boilers, hot water boilers, air compressors and dryers, chillers, water for injection generation and distribution system, clean steam generator, controlled temperature storage units, and waste neutralization system
- Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs of production equipment including sterilizers, washers, filling equipment, and lyophilizers
- Monitor building system operations using BAS and respond with corrective actions as appropriate
- Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and work safety
- Coordinate and complete system and building repairs and preventative maintenance requirements in a timely manner
- Provide ongoing assistance and support to site management in all aspects of site operation and maintenance
- Inspect building exteriors, interiors, parking lots and grounds regularly
- Troubleshoot operations failures and re-establish building and production services under minimal supervision
- Respond quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed
- Maintain operation records as required, complying with cGMP documentation requirements
- Coordinate and supervise maintenance work provided by vendors and contractors as needed
- Act as a lead with less senior technician when jointly performing work
- Required to participate in the on-call rotation
- Must be available to support off-shift activities, including production support, equipment breakdowns response and planning shutdowns
- Perform all other duties assigned
Skills and Abilities:
- Self-motivated, proactive, detail oriented and able to manage multiple tasks while still meeting deadlines
- Strong overall electrical/mechanical aptitude
- Have a work ethic that brings a positive, customer-centric approach to your work
- Able to work without reasonable supervision
- Team oriented
- Can work after hours and weekends when required
- Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagrammatic form such as “As Built Drawings”
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Capable of performing the physical requirements of stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs or ladders and ability to lift or move heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more
- Operate all equipment essential to job functions including hand tools, power tools and lift equipment
- Troubleshooting and repair of building mechanical systems, including electrical distribution systems: single and three phase up to 480V
- Great organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Adapt at mentoring, coaching, and teaching less experienced technicians
- Establish and evaluate PM maintenance activities
- Troubleshoot equipment automation issues
- Knowledge and practical experience using multimeters and signal generators
- Read, interpret, and clearly communicate subject matter from electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma, preferably technical degree, or associates degree in facilities maintenance. Relevant trade certification and/or licensure given preference
- 10 or more years of experience working as a facilities building engineer or as a facilities technician
- Maintenance Technician (or similar role) in a commercial/industrial environment
- Preference given to experience in life sciences GMP environment
- Solid working knowledge of facilities electrical, plumbing HVAC systems (MEP)
- Preferably some experience in a laboratory environment
- Valid driver’s license
Travel Requirements:
- 5-25% travel required for this role
- Expected to support the Pleasant Prairie, warehouse, and Lincolnshire locations as required
Physical Requirements:
- Regular (50% - 100%) exertion including standing/walking for extended periods of time, lifting/carrying more than 25 and up to 50 lbs.
- At times low physical effort includes sitting, and operating computers or other small equipment
- Working in a manufacturing facility where at times environment may be loud
- Visual and hearing acuity required
