Overview
Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Barnes-Jewish Hospital's staff is composed of full-time academic faculty and community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, supported by a house staff of residents, interns, fellows and other medical professionals. Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Barnes-Jewish Hospital was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
The Financial Analysis Department provides support to the strategic, financial and capital planning functions of the hospital by providing detailed ad-hoc analysis on a myriad of data elements including volume, profitability and ROI analysis. This support is provided through analysis, report preparation, participation in the planning process, business development, presentations to management, executive staff and physicians.

Role Purpose
Provides complex financial analysis, reporting and forecasting operations and the evaluation of potential business opportunities. Efforts focus on clinical service line analysis and reporting, as well as strategic financial planning.
Responsibilities
- Provides analysis of financial data, including clinical service line reporting, trend analysis, proformas, and forecasts, and the monitoring of key financial metrics.
- Provides variance analysis of budget vs. actual results for assigned areas, providing explanations of the causes of any material variances.
- Supports the development and analysis of operating and capital budgets, as assigned.
- Conducts research and provides analysis for external business intelligence, as assigned.
- Maintains and supports decision support databases, including updating cost allocations.
