NATURE and SCOPE:
Solar is a worldwide provider of gas turbine solutions for compressing, pumping, propulsion and energy needs. The Information Technology Solutions (I/TS) Department manages the enterprise and business unit systems which link Solar manufacturing locations with distribution, sales, subsidiaries and Cat Inc facilities. Local hardware and software systems and products are also designed and supported. I/TS Sections, which support Solar Departments and business units, are located throughout the Solar worldwide organization. Quality and teamwork are essential elements of the Solar philosophy and are important to this position’s effectiveness.
Within this context, the position:
Performs business process analysis, design and simulation at the most complex level with responsibility for quality improvement, process improvement and/ or re-engineering. Primary focus is on the objectives and methods of work process and approaches to implementing major changes in work processes. Has advanced understanding of technical processes, environments and problems and solutions as they relate to the organization’s current and future strategic and operating environment. Creates and/ or facilitates process design changes by integrating new systems and/ or processes with existing ones. Work with operations management to develop impact of process changes, provide assistance to I/TS technical development groups to define concepts, or high level task plans and maintain close liaison with customers to assure business needs and perception of value are met. Should be a recognized expert for at least one major enterprise business process. Evaluates software products’ functionality for application to Solar business processes..
The position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates and oversees the work of others.
Typical internal customers include two or more Solar Departments or the entire Solar enterprise. External contacts include various companies who provide I/T software and benchmarks companies with similar process requirements. The position is challenged to quickly and correctly identify problems which may not be obvious. The position often confronts complex issues or problems which require careful analysis and diagnosis. Problems are often unique and solutions can require original approaches. The incumbent may modify existing approaches or develop new solutions. The incumbent sets priorities and establishes a work plan in order to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results. The incumbent’s principal accountabilities are analysis, design and implementation coordination of business process improvement projects and includes managing projects to schedule and budget objectives, developing implementable and supportable process designs and enabling business process improvement.
The incumbent establishes and then monitors general policies and guidelines for projects under his/ her control to ensure specific, management goals are met and desired results are achieved.

Moderate travel required (5% - 15% of working time).
KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
The position requires recognized expertise in one or more enterprise business process and a broad knowledge of information technologies and project management. Strong analytical and communication skills are required. Understanding of the Solar organization and its business processes are imperative.
The position typically requires a college or university degree or certification that is equivalent. In addition, 8-10 years of progressively responsible job-related experience are required. A passion for enabling change is desired.
Jobholder initiates communication with others outside immediate work group to work on new ideas or to counsel others, etc. The ability to listen to others is an important trait for this job.

Problems are often unique, and solutions can require original approaches and out of the box thinking. The incumbent should be able modify existing approaches as needed or develop new solutions. The incumbent sets priorities and establishes work plans to complete broadly defined assignments for themselves & their teams and achieve desired results. Emphasis on desired qualities is as follows.
- Champions program leadership and expert advice to IT and business leaders on enterprise business processes.
- Analyzes Business processes and advocates continuous improvement of enterprise business systems.
- Performs as a Solution Architect in providing world class operating model and processes for sustained profitability and growth with the organization.
- Supports and trains business users and subject matter experts.
- Performs and leads business process analysis and designs
- Creates and facilitates enterprise process changes.
- Reviews work of other enterprise business process specialists and mentors other team members in the group.
- Coaches and mentors’ new enterprise business process specialists.
- Works with Technical teams for CDs & Architecture Reviews
- Participates and guides Team members in CD, Solution testing and post implementation support.
- The incumbent establishes and then monitors general policies and guidelines for projects under his/ her control to ensure specific management goals are met, and desired results are achieved
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary for this role ranges from $115,627.00, to $173,441.00. Actual salary will be based on experience. The total rewards package, beyond base salary includes:

Summary Pay Range:
$115,627.00 - $208,128.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
