Job Description – Sr Accountant

Ruston-LA- Correct Commissary is seeking to hire a Sr Accountant to oversee all accounting functions. Your day-to-day role will consist of both operational transaction review/creation along with completed financial transaction management. Establishment and execution of day-to-day accounting processes is a significant portion of this position.

Performing and managing accounting functions such as sales tax, data interface with Quickbooks, accounts payable and accounts receivable are included in the role of this position.

It will be your job to balance accounts and confirm the accuracy of financial reports. The ideal candidate will have strong, advanced, excel skills, be detailed oriented, well organized, be able to work with little to no supervision and perform under pressure. As a senior management of the leadership team, you will be expected to add value in all areas of the business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Provide guidance and leadership to the accounting staff, including clerical positions in AP/AR/Payroll.

· Knowledge of multiple software systems to improve and ensure the accuracy of data flow between these systems and Quickbooks.

· Support the Leadership Team by providing financial related reports as requested in a timely manner.

· Proactively provide data to support all areas of the company, Operations and Sales.

· Prepare monthly financial reports and forecasts accurately and timely

· Summarize and prepare financial status and transaction reports, including a profit and loss statement, and other necessary reports to meet deadlines.

· Prepare complex customer billings and commission statements on a weekly and monthly timeframe

· Comply with all federal, state, and local protocols including legal requirements, sales and corporate taxes in multiple states

· Create a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual for accounting policy and regulations, and roll out reconciliation procedures-focusing on inventory management

· Provide financial guidance for all warehouse capital investments and related strategic justifications. Develop and maintain inventory controls and procedures to maintain accurate cost data for all products, safeguard company assets and ensure integrity of financial statements.

· Focus on tax compliance, state business registration, contract review, and management of multiple insurance requirements

· Play a vital part in the company's financial management which includes all account reconciliations and reporting to necessary parties

Education & Skillsets Required:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting

· 5+ years of experience as an accountant performing the duties and responsibilities described

· Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, cost control principles and GAAP

  • Advanced knowledge of excel including vlookups and pivot tables, Quickbooks and other Microsoft Office applications.

· Experience managing multiple data system interfaces ultimately flowing in to Quickbooks for financial reporting

  • Experience working with intercompany transactions, account reconciliations, journal entries and preparation for audit
  • Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines
  • Must be an outstanding communicator, and have established skills in accuracy, organization, and working in a high-volume environment
  • Demonstrated ability to support all other departments within the company and coordinate training and information sessions
